Adapt an established platform

Discuss an adaptationDevelop a custom formula
Use a custom brief when your customer, ingredient standard, texture, finish, aroma, package, or positioning cannot be reached through the stock catalog.
Send the custom briefUse stock economics to set a realistic target for the custom product.
Current stock balms publish suggested retail price, estimated unit profit, and estimated gross margin at every wholesale tier. Those numbers give you a real benchmark before formula development, packaging, labels, testing, freight, fulfillment, payment fees, and marketplace costs are added.

Build the difference your customer can see, feel, understand, and pay for.
Texture and finish
Plan a dense salve, softer balm, whipped presentation, faster glide, richer cushion, or lighter after-feel around the intended use and package.
Oil, wax, and botanical direction
Define carrier oils, wax structure, bee-derived ingredients, botanical extracts, essential oils, and ingredient exclusions. Organic ingredients are identified wherever they appear in the approved formula.
Scent or unscented
Choose a clear unscented brief or develop an aroma direction that fits the customer, channel, label space, and expected retail price.
Fill and package fit
Match viscosity, fill weight, opening, material, label area, shipping conditions, and shelf presentation before production is approved.
Pasture-raised, grass-fed tallow from small family farms.
Our tallow is dry rendered, never bleached or deodorized, and contains no additives. That gives the custom brief a clear sourcing foundation while leaving room to specify organic oils, waxes, botanicals, bee ingredients, scent, and other formula requirements where they make the product more compelling.
- Pasture-Raised and Grass-Fed
- Dry Rendered Without Additives
- Handmade in the USA
Know what happens before you commit to a manufacturing run.
Define the commercial brief
Share the customer, use case, target retail price, desired margin, volume, ingredients, texture, scent, package, launch timing, and channel requirements.
Evaluate physical samples
Review the pilot, consolidate feedback, and use the included revision round to resolve the most important formula and sensory decisions.
Approve the production standard
Review the final ingredient declaration, measured pH where applicable, specifications, package requirements, production quantity, timing, and quote before production.
Additional adaptation rounds are currently $125 plus shipping. Prototype shipping, specialized testing, tooling, packaging, labeling, fulfillment, and other project-specific requirements are quoted separately. Standard production planning normally begins around 200 units per SKU.
Settle the commercial decisions before bench work begins.
Should I buy stock or develop a custom balm?
Buy stock when an established formula, size, and package already fits. Choose adaptation when the platform is right but a controlled change creates the differentiation you need. Choose custom development when the customer outcome, texture, ingredient standard, scent, package, or positioning requires a genuinely different product.
Can I request organic ingredients?
Yes. State the exact organic ingredient requirements in the brief. The final declaration will identify organic ingredients wherever they appear. The tallow sourcing standard remains pasture-raised and grass-fed, with small-family-farm sourcing and dry rendering without bleaching, deodorizing, or additives.
Do I receive the formula percentages and manufacturing method?
Formula percentages and manufacturing methods remain confidential unless a separate license or transfer is included in the written scope.
How do I plan buyer margin?
Begin with your credible retail price, subtract the quoted landed unit cost, then account for labels, secondary packaging, freight, fulfillment, payment fees, discounts, returns, marketplace fees, labor, taxes, and overhead. Stock balm economics on this page provide a useful reference, but the custom quote controls the actual project economics.
