Shipping Policy
Last Updated: January 2026Wholesale Tallow Soap LLC ships heavy, dense freight. Soap is significantly heavier than most retail products, and our shipping policies are designed to ensure your bars arrive without dents, crushing, or heat damage.
1. Processing & Lead Times
Lead time refers to the time it takes for us to prepare your order before it is handed to the carrier.
Stock Orders (Ready-to-Ship)
- Processing Time: 2–4 Business Days.
- Orders placed before 12:00 PM CST typically enter the queue the same day.
- During peak seasons (October–December), allow up to 5 business days for processing.
Custom & Private Label Orders
- Production Time: 4–6 Weeks.
- This timeline is non-negotiable as it includes the mandatory 4-week curing phase required for cold-process tallow soap to harden and become shelf-stable. We will not ship uncured (“green”) soap.
2. Shipping Methods & Carriers
We ship via UPS Ground, FedEx Ground, and USPS Priority Mail depending on the size of the order and the destination.
To prevent lower layers of soap from being crushed by their own weight, we enforce a strict 50lb weight limit per box. If you order 500 bars, your order will arrive in roughly 4-5 separate boxes. Please do not panic if they do not all arrive on the exact same day.
3. Freight & Pallet Shipping (LTL)
For orders exceeding 1,000 bars (approx. 350lbs+), it is often safer and more cost-effective to ship via LTL Freight on a pallet.
- If your order qualifies for freight, our logistics team will contact you to confirm details (Loading Dock vs. Liftgate requirement).
- Freight quotes provided at checkout are estimates. If a liftgate or residential delivery is required, additional fees may apply.
4. Shipping Costs
Shipping is calculated at checkout based on Total Weight and Destination. We do not markup shipping; you pay the negotiated commercial rates we receive from our carriers.
Example: A case of 50 bars weighs approximately 17lbs.
5. Ownership & Risk of Loss (FOB Origin)
All wholesale orders are shipped FOB Origin.
- Transfer of Ownership: Once the package is scanned by the carrier (UPS/FedEx), title and ownership of the goods transfer to you, the Buyer.
- Carrier Delays: We are not responsible for delays caused by weather, carrier strikes, or high volume. We cannot refund shipping costs for packages delivered late by the carrier.
- Lost Packages: While we will assist you in filing a claim, we are not financially liable for packages lost or stolen after they have been successfully delivered to your address. Please ensure you have a secure delivery location.
6. Summer Shipping (Heat Warning)
Tallow has a melting point of approximately 95°F–100°F. During summer months (June–August), we reserve the right to delay shipping if there is a heat wave on the shipping route to prevent your bars from “sweating” or softening in transit.
We recommend stocking up heavily in Spring to avoid summer shipping risks.
7. International Shipping
Currently, we ship to the United States and Canada only.
For Canadian Buyers: You are the importer of record. You are responsible for all duties, taxes, and brokerage fees assessed by Canadian Customs. These fees are not included in your shipping cost at checkout.
